Nematic single-component superconductivity and loop-current order from pair-density wave instability

چکیده

We investigate the nematic and loop-current-type orders that may arise as vestigial precursor phases in a model with an underlying pair-density wave (PDW) instability. discuss how such phase gives rise to highly anisotropic stiffness for coexisting single-component superconductor low intrinsic stiffness, is case underdoped cuprate superconductors. Next, focusing on regime mean-field PDW ground state loop-current $xy$ (${\mathrm{B}}_{2g}$) order, we find preemptive transition into low- high-temperature order corresponding ${x}^{2}\ensuremath{-}{y}^{2}$ (${\mathrm{B}}_{1g}$) symmetry, respectively. Near between two phases, of soft emerges which expect director readily pinned away from high-symmetry directions presence external field. Results are discussed relation findings cuprates, especially recently inferred superconducting fluctuations [W\aa{}rdh et al., arXiv:2203.06769], giving additional evidence ubiquitous instability these materials.

High Critical Current Density Superconductivity

This project was focused on a basic scientific problem, one that is at the heart of application and development of superconductivity for efficient energy usage. This is improvement in high current density which can only be achieved by learning to pin vortices to the physical structure of its underlying superconducting material. Quantized vortices are the tornado of electrical supercurrents, ubi...

Superconductivity at 41 K and its competition with spin-density-wave instability in layered CeO1-xFxFeAs.

A series of layered CeO1-xFxFeAs compounds with x=0 to 0.20 are synthesized by the solid state reaction method. Similar to the LaOFeAs, the pure CeOFeAs shows a strong resistivity anomaly near 145 K, which was ascribed to the spin-density-wave instability. F doping suppresses this instability and leads to the superconducting ground state. Most surprisingly, the superconducting transition temper...

Single-gap s-Wave superconductivity near the charge-density-wave quantum critical point in CuxTiSe2.

The in-plane thermal conductivity kappa of the layered superconductor CuxTiSe2 was measured down to temperatures as low as Tc/40, at x=0.06 near where the charge-density-wave order vanishes. The absence of a residual linear term at T-->0 is strong evidence for conventional s-wave superconductivity in this system. This is further supported by the slow magnetic field dependence, also consistent w...

Spin and pair density wave glasses

Spontaneous breaking of translational symmetry—known as ‘density wave’ order—is common in nature. However such states are strongly sensitive to impurities or other forms of frozen disorder leading to fascinating glassy phenomena. We analyze impurity effects on a particularly ubiquitous form of broken translation symmetry in solids: a Spin Density Wave (SDW) with spatially modulated magnetic ord...
